Swap 'Til You Drop!

Hello my Fellow Fashionistas!

In my initial post, I mentioned that there is a way to get clothes for FREE or next to nothing. Well, I want to take this opportunity to share with you how I've been able to do that.

Many of you may already be aware of the concept of swapping. For those who don't, swapping is where you bring gently used or new unwanted clothing and swap your items for clothing you do want. Some events allow taking unlimited items regardless of how many items you bring to swap. Others allow you to swap up to the number of items you bring. The unwritten rule is that you bring clothes that you would be proud to give your best friend. If everyone follows this rule, everyone will walk away with some awesome finds! It is a "green" way of repleneshing your wardrobe.

Swapping is gaining in popularity all over the world; so much so that there is a World Swap Day. This thing is serious! I learned of swapping several years ago, but kind of forgot about it. One day I came across a fellow thrifter who told me that I had just missed World Swap Day! Oh how disappointed I was that I had missed such an event when she told me all the wonderful things she was able to take home for FREE! I bet I won't miss the next one! Ha!

Watch this video to get a peek at what clothing swaps are all about.

Swaps are always going on. In the DC Metro area, you can find one just about every month. One place you can stay informed of upcoming swaps in DC is DMV Swap Shop. We are hosting our next event on July 21, 2012. Get your tickets here. If you're in the area, we look forward to seeing you!

So if you like FREE and you love the thrill of the hunt like I do, I strongly encourage you to check out a swap in your area. The possibilities are endless on what you can find at these events.

If you've attended a swap event before, what is your favorite swap find?

Neutral Chic

Hey everyone, I'm back with what I wore on Father's Day. It was such a beautiful day to celebrate a special person whom I've come to adore. My sweetie and I took his parents to brunch at J.King's Steak & Seafood Restaurant in Gambrills, MD and we were pleasantly surprised. They even had a crab feast that evening! So needless to say that this restaurant is on our list of places to go for Sunday brunch and dinner too! Mmm mmm good (can't wait to go back)...

For those in the PG/AA County area, this is a must try!

Casual Friday

I remember reading something about how a person's mood improves significantly on Fridays compared to any other day of the week. I'm in a pretty good mood most of the time, but it's so true that I am much happier on Fridays. It has everything to do with looking forward to having the next two days off, spending quality time with my sweetie and getting some "me" time in.

This was my casual Friday look last week.

A Journey of 1000 Miles Begins With the First Step...

I think that's how the saying goes. Anywho...Hello everyone! I'm Janeen and I am taking my first step into the world of blogging - something I never imagined doing BUT in order to grow, one must think and step outside of his/her box, right? So here goes...

A little about me...My mom used to always tell me I needed to find a hobby and I always felt like there was nothing in particular I loved to do that much or was really passionate about. Well, my love and passion had always been there, I just didn't acknowledge it as such - I love SHOPPING! What girl doesn't, right? It's an obsession. If I'm not in the store, I'm online; if I'm not online, I'm at a clothing swap. It's bad - in someone's mind, at least - but it's what I love. Why fight it when you can embrace it?

Now don't get me wrong, I shop within my means. I encourage everyone to KNOW YOUR LIMIT...If you're like me and love clothes, find ways to get them at a discount or for FREE. My motto is: Never pay full price...There's really no need to.

Dress: Gifted  Cardigan: The Loft, Anne Taylor
Shoes: Nine West  Necklace: Thrifted
Watch: Invicta   Bracelets: Banana Republic Belt: Target
Rings: TJ Maxx, Tiffany & Co.
In future posts I will share how I get my clothes at a discount or for FREE. I believe if it's free it's for me (not everything of course)! I look forward to sharing my points of view with you on fashion, shopping and a variety of other topics very soon.

Thanks for visiting and...Stay Tuned!
